Columbia State Community College announces more than 280 students who earned their degree or certificate during the fall 2017 semester.

Columbia State Community College named 107 students to the president's list for fall 2017.

Columbia State Community College named 580 students to the dean's list for fall 2017.

A total of 12,594 students enrolled during the 2017 fall semester at The University of Alabama were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

The University of Alabama awarded approximately 1,300 degrees during summer commencement Aug. 5. With a beautiful campus, hundreds of rigorous academic programs, world-renowned faculty and numerous opportunities for service and growth, The University of Alabama is a place where legends are made. The campus gives students the opportunity to interact with nationally renowned faculty performing cutting-edge research. In addition, UA offers students more than 500 student organizations, and UA students perform more than 1 million hours of service for the community.

APSU 1000 Peer Leaders are upper-level student leaders who provide an immediate support network to first-year students. Peer leaders help first-year students adjust to the university and develop a better understanding of campus resources and skills essential for academic success.

We want to extend a big Charger welcome as you get to know Columbia State, make new friends and create lasting memories! The fall semester is just beginning, and we want to take this opportunity to wish you much success as you begin your studies at Columbia State. They join the ranks of more than 6,000 Columbia State students who are pursuing their dreams of obtaining a college degree or certificate. Columbia State is proud to offer more than 70 programs of study and has friendly faculty and staff who care that students have a great college experience. We offer both traditional and online courses. At Columbia State, you can earn a degree that can take you straight into the workforce or that can transfer to the college or university of your choice.

Thirty-eight Columbia State students spent the summer with the world as their classroom, participating in a study abroad program provided by the Tennessee Consortium for International Studies. Participants learned from Columbia State professors, as well as other Tennessee Board of Regents institutions. Students also earned college credit-all the while soaking in the culture and camaraderie of a foreign land. This summer, students traveled to multiple international destinations, including Galapagos Islands, England, India, South Africa and Greece.

Close to 300 University of Alabama students are receiving a hands-on educational experience at more than 60 companies and organizations through UA's Cooperative Education Program during summer 2017. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. The experience enhances the students' employment prospects after graduation. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable on-the-job experience. Students maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.
