The following students were names to the Dean's list for the Fall 2018 semester at Grove City College.

UF students recently performed in a fall strings recital.

The following students achieved the Dean's List at Belmont University for the Fall 2018 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

The University of Findlay Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Soojin Lee, recently performed in a fall concert.

The beginning of a new school year looks different each year. It can include moving into a new dorm room, wayfinding through campus or scoping out the best spots for future study sessions. For more than 2,000 Belmont University freshmen and transfer students, this year's new school year included all these things and a special opportunity to serve their community. During the Towering Traditions orientation program, new Bruins spend an afternoon traveling to 26 locations across the greater Nashville area for service. The event, called SERVE, allows students to immerse themselves in their new hometown.

Student groups at the University of Findlay have elected presidents for the 2018-2019 academic year. There are nearly 90 active clubs, organizations, national honor societies and special interest groups at UF.

Recent Columbia State Community College graduates, Megan Franz and Camrie Jacobson, received the 2018 Lipscomb University Transfer Trustee scholarship.

Belmont University kicked off classes for its fall 2018 semester with a record-breaking enrollment number as the University welcomed 8,318 students to campus, nearly triple the enrollment in 2000 and marking a 65 percent increase in the last decade alone. This marks Belmont's 18th consecutive year of record enrollment.

Each summer, Columbia State Community College students travel the world while earning college credit. This summer, 29 students participated in the study abroad program, exploring different countries and gaining exposure to other cultures.

The Yonder Contemporary Dance Company, a collective in The University of Alabama's department of theatre and dance, will present a 50-minute concert titled "IRL" during the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. The performances will run Aug. 4-10. Yonder's "IRL" involves 15 dance majors, overseen by Sarah M. Barry, associate professor of dance. They are collaborating with five student composers from UA's School of Music, who are overseen by Dr. Amir Zaheri, assistant professor of composition. The collaboration also includes a media specialist from UA's department of advertising and public relations, overseen by Mark Barry, director of creative advertising specialization. The dance majors will perform "IRL" at the Greenside @ Nicolson Square venue in Edinburgh. "'IRL' focuses on the pervasive nature of technology and illuminates the jarring battle between everyone and everything that competes for our attention," said Sarah Barry, who is the artistic director of the company. "We have tried to address this material from different angles because there are a variety of perspectives to consider. Some are big and obvious while others are more nuanced. We have worked hard to keep the discussion open and the research ongoing. The show will continue to evolve as we share our work and take in audience feedback." To prepare for the performances, Yonder participants hosted master classes and performances during a regional tour in spring 2018. Sites included the Dance Foundation in Birmingham; Florence Academy of Fine Arts in Florence; the Buckman Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee; and the Marcus Jewish Community Center in Atlanta. "The tour allowed students to make and refine their creative work and performance over a longer time to different audiences, giving them a window into the professional company life of touring, teaching, performing, writing grants, fundraising and promoting dance," Barry said. Students named to the University of Iowa spring 2018 Dean's List

More than 2,000 high-achieving students have been named to the Dean's List for the spring semester at Northampton Community College. The honor is reserved for students who have completed a minimum of 6 credits and achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale in the spring 2018 semester.

On May 24, 2018, Northampton Community College (NCC) celebrated not only the achievement of its students, but also the 50th anniversary of spring commencement ceremonies at the college. The Class of 2018 represents fifty years of NCC students overcoming obstacles and working hard to achieve their dream of a college education.

The University of Findlay Orchestra recently presented "Grieg & Bizet." Directed by Soojin Lee, the orchestra is comprised of more than 50 students, staff and community string players.

Columbia State students were inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta, the national English honor society for two-year colleges. The honor society promotes honors excellence in English, and members enjoy writing, reading, discussion and fellowship. Membership is open to students who have completed one college English course and who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher in English and other scholarship.
